What should I bring for my helicopter tour?
Be sure to bring your camera or video recording device for the amazing photo opportunities! Additionally, sunglasses can be important on sunny days. Wind River Air will provide you with a headset, so you can hear and speak with the pilot.
How many passengers can you take?
Our aircraft will seat three passengers, in addition to our pilot. If your party has four or more people, we are happy to book multiple aircraft. Please see below regarding weight limits.
Are there a minimum number of passengers required?
We require two passengers for any scenic flight. If you are a single, please call us and we will try to schedule you with a previously booked tour of two or you may book a private tour.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, there is a 250-pound per passenger weight limit, and a 525-pound maximum combined weight of passengers. Additionally, at our high altitudes total aircraft weight and balance can be a factor - especially during the summer months. Therefore, your pilot will determine which seat each passenger will sit in. Your pilot might also make adjustments to which passengers ride on which flight.
Please note, Wind River Air will ask for your weight when you book your flight.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of flight time, or do not show for your scheduled flight, we will charge the full price of your flight.
What if the weather is bad?
Your safety is our priority. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel a tour due to inclement weather. We will do our best to accommodate you when the weather improves or on another day. You will not be charged a cancellation fee if WRA has to cancel your flight.
Does your helicopter have air conditioning or a heater?
Yes! Our helicopter has air conditioning for hot summer days, and a heater for cooler days.
What if I want to plan a custom flight?
Wind River Air is here for you - call us to book your custom tour! Do you need an idea for your custom flight? We are happy to talk through your ideas and to share additional ones to ensure you have a rich and memorable experience!
What type of helicopter do you fly?
We fly a three-passenger R44 Raven 2. Our helicopter is extremely well maintained, and every seat is a window seat!
What are your age restrictions?
An adult must accompany children under the age of 8. Individuals aged 2 and up require their own ticket.
What is Wind River Air's safety record?
Wind River Air, LLC has adopted Safety Management Systems as a way to ensure the well being of our employees and guests while guaranteeing the longevity of our business. We maintain an impeccable flight and employee safety record. WRA is a locally owned and operated company, which operates under Part 91 of the Federal Aviation Regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
What should I expect on my helicopter adventure?
Wind River Air, LLC provides a stunning experience, and a one of a kind bird's-eye view of the Tetons or Wind River mountain ranges. The pilot will arrange seating according to weight and balance needs. The flight is yours to enjoy, so please let us know of any special requests prior to our flight - and we will try to accommodate it while ensuring we provide you a safe and memorable experience. Additionally, if there is a special sight or viewpoint you would like to see again we can can typically circle back.
Is a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 permitted on the aircraft?
The Federal Department of Transportation has banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from all aircraft. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device is considered a forbidden hazardous material and individuals may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, in checked baggage, or as air cargo on flights to, from, or within the United States. If passengers attempt to evade the ban, the phones may be confiscated and passengers may face criminal prosecution and fines. These phone are potentially lethal to aircraft operation - please do not have them in your possession.
Is there a charge if we have to reschedule our tour?
If you cancel your flight 24 hours or more in advance of your flight time there will be no charge.
Wind River Air, LLC reserves the right to cancel tours at any time due to inclement weather or other safety hazards. We will do our best to reschedule your tour as soon as the weather, or operational delays have been cleared. If we are unable to reschedule your tour WRA will provide a full refund.
I'm in a wheelchair - can you accommodate me?
Absolutely! To fly and be accommodated, someone who can assist you with boarding and disembarking the helicopter must accompany you - this ensures our team can focus on providing you a safe and memorable experience.
Can pregnant women fly?
Yes, pregnant women can fly with WRA. We always recommend checking with your doctor before you book your flight with us.
What is the best time of day to fly?
If the weather is good - all day! Morning flights are generally smoother, and sunset flights can be stunning - especially when the mountains are painted in alpenglow!
Does Wind River Air give back to the local environment?
Yes, we are residents of western Wyoming, and care a lot about our local environment and community. Therefore, when we're not showcasing our backyard to guests we're giving back when and where we can, as well as getting out and enjoying it ourselves.
Wind River Air, LLC participates in various green initiatives and best practices.
Can we wait until we arrive in western Wyoming to reserve our flight?
We suggest making your reservation at least two weeks prior to when you want to fly - to better ensure you secure the date and time you want. We typically sell out during the busy summer and winter months.

Our scenic flights remain outside of the national park boundaries except for departures and arrivals at the Jackson Hole Airport. WRA reserves the right to cancel or change any flight schedule or prices, and substitute routes as necessary. Some flights require minimum passengers. Other applicable fees may apply. WRA requires notification of cancellation 24 hours prior to departure, or the full price of your flight will be incurred. If you cancel your flight 24 or more hours prior to your flight, you will receive a full refund minus a 3% processing fee.
